Research into costumes

Costumes or general clothing is an important part of every film as it can give a sense of atmosphere which is unique to that film in particular.

From these two pictures the viewer notices the contrasts in lifestyle's which is what makes the film so unique, on one side you see the poverty and on the other is the extravagant and almost futuristic side to their lives.   

Example of usual clothing in a film:

Although there is nothing stand out about simple clothing used in films and other forms of media, it still gives for a different sense of atmosphere as the director wants to present the children in the series as normal yet the storyline is eccentric and mysterious.
